Earth Day began as a grassroots movement founded by Wisconsin’s own Gaylord Nelson in 1970, mobilizing 20 million Americans to demonstrate and focus attention on the environmental concerns of the day.

Today, we celebrate Senator Nelson’s vision of environmental stewardship by supporting and encouraging cycling as an alternative to short car trips. The average commuter who switches to biking saves about 1,500 pounds of carbon emissions yearly! How’s that for Earth Day action?

It’s been a rough weekend for everyone in Evansville. I watched dozens of cars go by the shop on flat bed trucks last Friday and Saturday.
