On the Stand: Winter Restorations Begin

Today we’re starting something new: On the Stand, a behind-the-scenes look at the winter restoration projects coming through the shop. Some bikes need a tune-up. Others need a full rebirth. These two fall squarely into the second category, and each one arrives with a story worth telling.

1. Dyno GT Detour — A BMX racer’s old ride
This vintage Dyno GT Detour is getting a full glow-up after spending a few decades in the garage. Its owner raced it when he was younger, lost track of it for a few years, and eventually got it back… not entirely in its original condition. We’re bringing it back with period-appropriate parts and a fresh black-and-white color scheme that should take it right back to its racing days. This one’s going to be fun.

2. Bianchi family bike — One generation to the next
This vintage Bianchi belonged to the owner’s parents. She remembers riding on the back as a child, and now she wants to enjoy it again as her own bike. It’s getting a complete overhaul with a few modern upgrades to make it smooth, dependable, and ready for another chapter.

These are the kinds of winter projects we love — meaningful bikes with real stories behind them. Over the next few weeks we’ll share the progress, the challenges, and the transformations as each one comes back into riding shape.

Stay tuned for updates in future installments of On the Stand.
