Sure, it’s gone legit, but it’s still a good time. What started many years ago as an Ally Cat race from the capitol to the Illinois border is now the signature event and main fundraiser for Bike Fitchburg.
Meet at 6:30 pm on Friday, September 18 at Seminole Tap, 5956 Executive Drive, Fitchburg, WI, rolling out along the Badger State Trail at 7pm. The end time depends on your speed and the distance chosen.
It’s not quite how they run it these days, but in the past it was a race to the Illinois border to pick up a trailer with a cooler of beverages. Once you met the person with the trailer you turned around and headed back to Madison. At night. In the dark. Good times.
The route is on the Badger State Trail, so you need a pass. (Available at the bike shop.)
It’s at night, so you need a light. (Also available at the bike shop.)
It could be cool, so you may need a jacket.
There are 3 distance options to choose from: 80 Miles (the border), 40 Miles (Monticello), 25 Miles (Belleville)
There’s an entry fee of $25 or more to support Bike Fitchburg.
You must be 18 years old. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.
There will be SAG support and food and snacks.
