Bike to School Day Fun!

Bike Month is off to a fantastic start with a very successful Bike to School Day. Thanks to Evansville PD and the ECSD staff and administration for supporting cycling in our community. We are proud to be a part of a fun event!

With beautiful May weather, Ride Your Bike to School Day on Wednesday morning had a tremendous turnout.

Over 60 students, some with parents and younger siblings, left from Lake Leota Park at 7:30am to ride their bikes to school. Many more students and families joined in from their own homes with strollers and scooters as well.

Thank you to Paul Liesse from Shifting Gears Bike Shop for launching this idea and his help in planning and supervising.

Thanks too to the Chief Jones and the Evansville Police Department for watching out for our students at busy intersections!

We have plans to make this an annual event with improvements for the future.

The school district appreciates the community’s support in making events like this fond memories for our students!
