The Shop can now properly and safely handle recycling your old e-bike battery.
Bring it on down, we’ll take care of it from there.
Signs it is time for a new battery:
Performance Signs
Short range: Your bike goes a much shorter distance on a full charge than it used to.
Power drops: The motor cuts out or the battery percentage drops fast when you push hard or go up hills.
Slow charging: The charger takes many extra hours to reach full or fails to ever hit 100%.
Old age: The battery is past 3 years old, even if it turns on.
Physical Signs
Swelling: The plastic or metal case looks bulged or warped.
Bad fit: The pack no longer slides smoothly into the frame mount.
High heat: The battery feels very hot while you ride or while it sits on the charger.
Weird smells: You notice unusual odors or leaking fluid (if this happens, stop using it right away!)
If your e-bike is a brand we carry (Aventon or Velotric), we can also order you a new battery!
And because the Shop participates in the e-bike battery recycling program, we have our own handy-dandy lithium ion battery incident kit. Rest assured – we have the tools and knowledge necessary to care for those old, tired batteries.
